Day 1 Morning departure for the journey north to Yorkshire to arrive at the hotel in Scarborough for a four night stay.
Day 2 This morning we head north following the coast road to Whitby, the famous fishing port which was once the home of Captain James Cook. High above the harbour stands the 7th century Whitby Abbey, the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Time to wander round the narrow streets and busy harbourside before leaving for the picturesque Goathland, famous as ‘ Aidensfield’ in TV’s popular ‘Heartbeat’.
Day 3 A free day to discover the varied attractions. Stroll along the delightful promenade in Belvedere Gardens, visit the town centre and shops, amble down to the beaches of South Bay, or the busy little harbour. Take a walk up to Scarborough’s fortress castle and enjoy the views across the bays.
Day 4 A day in the ancient and historic city of York, with so much to see and do – The National Railway Museum, the Jorvik Centre and the Castle Museum. Stroll around the City Walls, wander round the quaint little alleyways and ‘the Shambles’. No visit to York is complete without seeing the magnificent York Minster.
Day 5 After breakfast, we commence the homeward journey.
