Days 3 to 6 A day to relax and stroll round the cobbled streets of Riva or take a boat trip to one of the other lakeside town. We have also included the following excursions:

● An excursion to the walled village of Lazise, with its paved lakefront promenade and fine sandy beach. Take a look at the church of San Nicolo, known for its frescoes and admire the Scaliger Castle or just stroll around the village and enjoy lunch before visiting the Olive Oil Museum at Cisano di Bardolino. Olive oil is an integral part of Italian cuisine and the museum provides a fascinating insight. You will then travel to the medieval town of Malcesine, perched on the lake’s edge under the shadow of Monte Baldo. Explore the cobbled streets of the old town and its impressive castle or take the cable car to the summit for spectacular views across the lake.

● Today travel to the romantic city of Verona, After entering the attractive 14th century arches of the Portoni della Brà, make your way to the historic part of the town and you will come to Piazza Brà, a large open space dominated by the imposing Roman Arena. Visit Via Mazzini, an elegant pedestrian street paved with shiny Verona marble, heading into the heart of the town to Piazza Erbe, Verona’s beautiful main square. You must also visit Juliet’s balcony from which Shakespeare’s character uttered ‘Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo’.

● A full day to the desirable Dolomites. Travel along the scenic Val di Fassa to Canazei, a tourist resort at the gateway to the Dolomite Passes where you will stop for some lunch. Then continue on up the hair-raising Sella Pass to admire the fabulous views. Before dropping down along the Val Gardena, through Selva and on to the pretty village of Ortisei, famous for its ornate woodcarvings and a lovely pedestrian area with shops and cafés and a favourite destination for art lovers.
