Day 1 Morning departure for the journey north to Leicester for a single train journey through the countryside to Loughborough on the heritage Great Central Railway. Continuing onto the hotel for an overnight stay, where there will be an evening of food and entertainment. Chris Lloyd, the hotel entertainer, with his guest will lead you in a rousing evening of traditional music and sing-a-long songs which will lift your spirits and maybe bring a lump to your throat whilst waving your flags high. Why not embrace the red of the poppy and come dressed in your scarlet finery. (Dressing up is optional).
Day 2 After breakfast, depart the hotel and travel to the National Memorial Arboretum. This 150-acre site is home to over 330 thought-provoking memorials covering both military and civilian associations, along with tributes for individuals. It is also home to a variety of trees, flora and fauna making it a haven for nature lovers to enjoy. Whilst here take a trip on the covered land train and enjoy the running commentary as you explore the lush gardens of the Arboretum. You may wish to join in the Act of Remembrance at 11am in the Millennium Chapel, including a short service, two minutes silence, Last Post and Reveille. Followed by at 2pm an introduction talk on the history and grounds. (Limited seating available). Departing late afternoon for homeward journey.
