Hertfordshire St Albans

Day 1 Morning departure to delightful Henley-on-Thames where you have time for lunch and perhaps a stroll along the river before departing at 15.00 hours to the hotel for a four night stay.

Day 2 This morning you will visit Bentley Priory, where you will have a tour. Bentley tells the fascinating story of the Grade II listed country house focusing on its role as Headquarters Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain. Time for lunch before travelling to Tring. Time to meander along the high street or visit the Natural History Museum (not included).

Day 3 This morning you will visit Frogmore Paper Mill, the world’s oldest mechanised paper mill, birthplace of paper’s industrial revolution and still making paper today. Your visit includes a presentation, guided mill tour and hand papermaking, as well as a boat ride from the mill down the Gade River and back. In the afternoon you will visit the De Havilland Aircraft Museum. A fascinating museum which houses the restored Comet 1a. You also have the opportunity to climb into the LINK cockpit and fly the historic simulator (cost not included).

Day 4 Travel to St Albans for a morning at leisure in this ancient city. After lunch travel to Ware to join the Lee & Stort Company for a 3 hour boat trip on the River Lee with an included cream tea.

Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and travel to Windsor for some free time and lunch before continuing the homeward journey.
