After almost 3 years since Downton Abbey’s final TV episode, the shutters will open and the servant’s bell will ring once again as a new feature length motion picture that everyone has been waiting for begins filming!
Designed by Sir Charles Barry, architect of the Houses of Parliament and built in 1842, Highclere was the seat of the 5th Earl of Carnarvon who, with his colleague Howard Carter famously discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun and some of their findings are displayed here. Now home to 8th Earl & Countess Carnarvon and surrounded by beautiful gardens, grounds and park designed by Capability Brown, this Jacobean style country home is now world famous as the setting for Downton Abbey and visited by 1000’s of fans each year.
