Day 1 Early morning departure for the journey to Scotland and to the hotel in Drymen for a four night stay.
Day 2 Today you will travel into the scenic Trossachs through Aberfoyle and then over the spectacular ‘Dukes Pass’ to Loch Katrine. This scenic drive is often listed as one of the most beautiful in Britain. On arrival you will board the historic steamship ‘Sir Walter Scott’ and whilst singing Christmas carols you will cruise Loch Katrine which offers stunning views of the Trossachs, making it a memorable way to put you in the Christmas spirit. Afterwards you will continue your journey to Callander, a bustling tourist town situated on the River Teith. It is set dramatically beneath, high, wooded crags and gained fame as the location for the original Doctor Findlay’s Casebook TV series. Returning by way of the National Park with scenic views of the area.
Day 3 For today’s tour you will travel to Inveraray, located on the western shore of Loch Fyne. The town is an absolute set piece of Scottish Georgian architecture. Key buildings that are worth visiting include the neoclassical church and Inveraray’s jail and courthouse, now an award- winning museum that graphically recounts prison conditions from medieval times up until the 19th century. You will also be able to see Inveraray Castle in the distance, on the shore of Loch Fyne, which is Scotland’s longest sea loch. The castle is one of the earliest examples of baroque, Palladian and Gothic style architecture”.
Day 4 This morning you will head to Stirlingshire and to the steam driven Falkirk Wheel. You will enjoy a unique ride on the world’s first and only rotating boat lift. The magnificent structure stands 115ft tall and requires only the power of eight domestic kettles to sail boats through the air and transfer them between the two canals. Afterwards you will then make a stop to view the magnificent Kelpies, the largest equine sculptures in the world. The visitor centre at the Kelpies has a gift shop, café and more information on The Kelpies themselves. After some free time here you will then travel to Stirling. A small city with a big history, Stirling is known for historic attractions and spectacular scenery, shopping and places to eat. The city celebrated its 900th anniversary in 2024. Returning to the hotel late afternoon.
Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
