Day 1 Morning departure for the journey north to Wales and the hotel in Wrexham for a four night stay.
Day 2 This morning you will visit Chester where you will begin with a tranquil 30 minute cruise on the River Dee including commentary. The remainder of the morning is at leisure to explore the pretty medieval streets and city walls and have some lunch before departing for Norton Priory Museum and Gardens. Discover the 870 year old priory site, its museum and award-winning walled garden. Time to visit the cafeĢ, shop and exhibitions before returning to the hotel.
Day 3 Travel south this morning for a canal cruise through the beautiful Vale of Llangollen and across the Pontcysllte Aqueduct, or ‘Stream in the Sky’, on a brightly coloured narrowboat. An interesting commentary gives you an insight into the history of the area and other canals in the UK. Spend time in Llangollen itself, before travelling over the spectacular Horseshoe Pass to the small market town of Ruthin before returning to the hotel.
Day 4 Today travel to Northwich for a ride on the magnificent Anderton Boat Lift. Originally built in 1875, the structure lifts passengers aboard the elegant Edwin Clark boat from the River Weaver to the Trent and Mersey Canal high above. A comprehensive visitor centre houses an exhibition focusing on the lift’s history together with its control centre, so visitors can get close to the action. On then to the pleasant market town of Nantwich, before returning to the hotel via the lovely lakes at Ellesmere.
Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
