Day 1 Early morning departure for the journey north, over the border at Gretna and onto Drymen for a four night stay.
Day 2 Today you will travel into the scenic Trossachs through Aberfoyle and then over the spectacular ‘Dukes Pass’ to Loch Katrine. This scenic drive is often listed as one of the most beautiful in Britain. We have included a cruise on the loch. Afterwards you will continue your journey to Callander, a bustling tourist town situated on the River Teith. It is set dramatically beneath, high, wooded crags and gained fame as the location for the original Doctor Findlay’s Casebook TV series.
Day 3 This morning you will travel to the Helix Park, home to the Kelpies, two 30 metre high horse head sculptures which are a true feat of engineering. They are the largest equine sculptures in the world. Time to admire and take photos before continuing to Stirling with an included entrance to Stirling Castle, one of Scotland’s greatest stone castles. Explore its three main enclosures, and then admire the refurbished Royal Palace – childhood home of Mary Queen of Scots. The palace’s lavish design drew on European Renaissance fashions to show off James V’s power and good taste.
Day 4 Todays excursion takes you to the other side of Loch Lomond and on the breath-taking route over the ‘Rest and be Thankful’ Pass, the highest point on the A83 at 803ft above sea level and it divides Glen Kinglas from Glen Croe. Continuing to the Royal Burgh of Inveraray on Loch Fyne. Enjoy some free time to explore the town before you continue your journey to Killin, a small village at the Falls of Dochart with a spectacular series of rapids at the western end of Loch Tay. Free time for a wander before returning to hotel.
Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
