Day 1 Morning departure for the journey to Cirencester, capital of the Cotswolds for free time and lunch before continuing to Coleford and the hotel for a four night stay.
Day 2 Today you will enjoy a scenic journey in the Wye Valley taking in some beautiful scenery and passing by some pretty towns and villages. Your first stop will be in Monmouth with its dominating castle before continuing through the Valley to Tintern Abbey. You will visit the spectacular remains of the gothic Abbey and spend time visiting the local craft and antique shops.
Day 3 This morning you will travel to Hereford, hugged by the River Wye. We have included a guided tour of its wonderful Cathedral, where you can view the incredible Mappa Mundi, the largest surviving medieval map of the world, and also find the biggest chained library to survive with its chains, rods and locks. In the afternoon you will visit Ledbury and soak up the town’s history as you stroll the streets. See the unusual stilted 17th century Market House and walk the cobbles of Church Street, home to the 16th century Painted Room and Heritage Centre.
Day 4 Today travel to Sudeley Castle and Gardens, nestled in the Cotswold Hills. The castle remains the only private castle in England to have a queen buried within the grounds - Queen Katherine Parr, the last and surviving wife of King Henry VIII, who lived and died in the castle. Time to explore and have lunch before returning to the hotel mid-afternoon.
Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
