Day 1 Morning departure for the journey north to Yorkshire and on to Harrogate for a four night stay.
Day 2 A visit to Harewood House, one of the treasure houses of England set in the heart of rural Yorkshire. The house holds an impressive art collection, all combined with 100 acres of gardens and a renowned lakeside Bird Garden. In the afternoon you will visit Skipton, known as the ‘Gateway to the Dales’. The High Street leads up to the church and behind which you see the impressive 900-year old castle, one of the most complete and best-preserved castles in England.
Day 3 A leisurely day in the historic city of York. Time to explore the fascinating city with lots of attractions, such as the National Railway Museum, Jorvik Centre, the City Walls, the little streets and alleyways of The Shambles in the centre and not forgetting the magnificent Minster.
Day 4 Free time to explore Harrogate and stroll round the delightful Victorian arcades, and perhaps enjoy tea and cake at the famous Betty’s Tearooms. Later you have an early dinner before travelling to Ripon and have a behind the scenes guided tour of the awesome Ripon Cathedral, followed by one of the oldest English traditions kept alive for hundreds of years without a break. At 21.00 hours the Ripon Hornblower sets the night watch from each corner of the obelisk in the centre of the square to reassure citizens that all is well.
Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
