Day 1 Morning departure for the journey north to the Lake District and to Grange-over-Sands for a four night stay.
Day 2 Today you will travel by way of Broughton-in-Furness to the tiny village of Hawkshead, with its higgledy- piggledy houses, archways and squares for a coffee stop before continuing to Grasmere. Enjoy some free time to explore and have lunch, and make sure you visit Sarah Nelson’s little shop where you can buy Grasmere Gingerbread that is quite simply the best. Continuing onto Keswick, a pretty market town in the Northern Lakes.
Day 3 This morning you will embark on a boat for a one way cruise on Windermere with views of the fells, historic houses and beautiful woodlands to Bowness. On arrival you are right in the heart of a bustling Lakeland village, complete with many shops and cafés. There will be free time to have some lunch and perhaps stroll along the lakeside. You will then visit the World of Beatrix Potter and meet your favourite characters in a magical setting.
Day 4 Today you will head to Ulverston, a fine market town in the centre of the Furness peninsula, with old buildings and a labyrinth of cobbled streets. It is the birthplace of Stan Laurel and home to the world’s only Laurel and Hardy Museum. Time to explore the town followed by a visit to Cumbria Crystal for a self-guided factory tour to watch the entire glass making process with time to visit the shop. On to Cartmel, a medieval village with rich heritage, visit the Cartmel Priory or the Cartmel Village store, famous for the best sticky toffee pudding.
Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
