Day 1 Morning departure for the journey north into Leicestershire and to the hotel for a four night stay.
Day 2 A visit to Tamworth Castle for a guided tour, stepping through 900 years of history and uncovering the many secrets hidden in the ancient building- from sieges to royal visits. After the tour enjoy tea/coffee and cake in the Great Hall. Returning to the hotel early afternoon to enjoy the hotel facilities.
Day 3 Today you will visit Birmingham, and start your visit at the heart of England’s canal network and understand the city from the water on a Sherborne Wharf narrowboat. Marvel at the transformation and regeneration of the post-industrial city. You will then visit Newman Bros Coffin Works, a unique museum where the workshops are full of original stock and tools. Discover how they produced some of the world’s finest coffin furniture, including the fittings for the funerals of Winston Churchill and the Queen Mother.
Day 4 This morning travel to Leicester and visit King Richard III Visitor Centre and discover the incredible story of the last English king to die in battle and the first to be DNA tested. Using 21st century technology and stunning design, the exhibition takes visitors back to medieval England and the Wars of The Roses. Afterwards you will travel to the Leicester North Station and join the Great Central Railway to Loughborough for a return journey, travelling through the Leicestershire countryside.
Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey
