Day 1 Morning departure for the journey to Shropshire and the hotel in Telford for a four night stay.
Day 2 Today you will visit Shrewsbury. First you will embark on a unique and leisurely 40 minute cruise along the famous and picturesque River Severn loop. Afterwards you will have time for lunch and to explore Shrewsbury, the birthplace of Charles Darwin and the finest Tudor town in England.
Day 3 The spectacular Ironbridge Gorge is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy a visit to Blists Hill Victorian Town with its ten museums that offer endless opportunities to uncover the stories of the people and places that changed the world in this area. Meet the friendly residents including the police officer, craftspeople demonstrating traditional trades like printing and candle-making, and sellers in their shops. Why not eat proper fish and chips cooked in beef dripping or enjoy a bag of traditional sweets. You will complete the day by viewing the Iron Bridge itself.
Day 4 Today is full steam ahead for a classic rail journey on the Severn Valley Railway between Bridgnorth, which is a ‘twin town’ linked together by its own remarkable Cliff Railway, and Kidderminster. You will also visit the historic market town of Ludlow, often referred to as the perfect historic town, with over 500 listed buildings and a castle at its heart.
Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey
