Day 1 Morning departure for the journey into Devon and to Torquay for a four night stay.
Day 2 A free day to explore Torquay, with its iconic palm trees, busy harbour, international marina, beaches, and wonderful array of continental style cafes, restaurants, and cocktail bars.
Day 3 Today you will travel to Powderham Castle, located on the banks of the River Exe and a short distance from the historic city of Exeter. Immerse yourself in over six centuries of history. Their stories embellish the history of the house, the country and the county through the lives of the Earls of Devon, and their families. Afterwards you will travel to Dawlish, with its sandy beach and town centre, and home to the famous black swans.
Day 4 This morning you will visit the Museum of Dartmoor Life in Okehampton. It is a fabulous Museum covering 5000 years of Dartmoor history, set in a small courtyard with a Victorian tearoom for you to enjoy. The town of Okehampton is just a short distance away which has a castle and variety of independent shops. After lunch you will visit to the Dartmoor Prison Museum and learn about ‘life inside’ one of the world’s famous and notorious jails. Some of the artefacts and documents on display will surprise you but will certainly enable you to form an opinion about prison life.
Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey
