Itinerary

Day 1 Early departure to Dover for the ferry crossing to Calais. Travelling through the Somme and Picardy to reach the Dijon area for the overnight stop (dinner not included).

Day 2 Continuing south with the Pyrenees in sight, you cross the border into Spain and then continue the short distance to your hotel in Roses for a stay of seven nights.

Days 3 to 8 At leisure in Roses – the hotel offers entertainment each night during your stay. Enjoy two days at leisure to explore and we have also included the following excursions to enhance your holiday:-

  • Today you will board a boat and follow the rugged coastline to Cadaqués, a fashionable whitewashed resort situated on the Cap de Creus peninsula. This rocky coast is fringed with beautiful beaches and quiet coves. Cadaqués has a historic quarter to explore where you can get lost in its labyrinth of streets. The highest point of the old town is where the church of Santa Maria de Cadaqués is located. From here you will have a beautiful panoramic view of the village, the bay, Des Cucurucuc and even the small lighthouse of Cala Nans. Cadaqués was once the holiday destination for Salvador Dali during his youth.

  • Travel by way of San Pescador, L’Escala an important fishing port dedicated to its famous anchovies, past Torroella de Montgri to the resort of L’Estartit. L’Estartit is famous for its crystal-clear water, stunning natural beauty with views over the bay to the Medes Islands, and surrounded by interesting landscapes and protected countryside. Stroll around the village, the fishing harbour and the Passeig del Molinet seafront promenade.

  • This morning you will visit Empuriabrava, one of the most unusual towns along the Costa Brava. There are 15 miles of canals, 5,000 private jetties and is the largest residential marina in the world with lots for you to see. Or take a stroll along the picturesque street or enjoy tapas at an old bar where you will mingle with the locals. Whilst here the driver may be able to arrange a boat trip for you (payable direct to the driver). In the afternoon you will visit Besalu, reached by a 12th century bridge with time to explore.
  • A day trip into the mountains to Ribes de Freser for a ride on the rack railway through to the Sanctuary of Nuria. It is the only way to access Nuria Valley and has exceptional features: a rack railway covering 12.5 Km over an incline of more than 1,000 metres. There will be time for refreshments before the return journey back by train and coach.

Day 9 Depart the hotel after breakfast and retrace your steps to the overnight stop near Dijon (dinner not included).

Day 10 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
