A late summer season holiday based in Plymouth, Devon, with tours to Cornwall offering attractions for you to discover about the county’s history.
Day 1 Morning departure west to Devon and to the hotel in Plymouth for a four night stay.
Day 2 After breakfast this morning we journey to Pencarrow House and Gardens. A Georgian mansion that is still lived in by the same family who settled here in the 1500s. We enjoy a guided tour of the house learning the history and heritage of the Molesworth family. There is then free time to explore the delightful gardens at leisure. Later in the afternoon you will visit the popular seaside town of Looe, a bustling working fishing port with free time to explore.
Day 3 A visit to Mevagissey, a popular fishing village with a maze of narrow streets around the busy harbour. Return to Plymouth for a free afternoon to explore this historic city, take a stroll around the famous Hoe, visit the Barbican, Mayflower Steps or browse around the city centre shops.
Day 4 Your final excursion is to the rugged Bodmin Moor with a stop at Jamaica Inn with its Daphne Du Maurier associations and a museum filled with smuggling artefacts collected over many years. From here you will travel to Tintagel with its dramatic castle ruins and then onto the pretty harbour at Port Isaac, the setting for TV’s Doc Martin.NB. There is no coach access to Port Isaac, so you will be dropped on the main road for you to take a 300m walk downhill into the village centreDay 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey
