Itinerary

Day 1 Morning departure for the journey to the east and to Loxwood where you will enjoy a 90 minute cruise along the Wey and Arun canal, taking in all the sights before continuing your journey to the hotel for a four night stay.

Day 2 This morning you will travel to Hythe and board the RH & DR railway to Dungeness. This line is known as ‘Kent’s Mainline in Miniature, the world famous one third full size locomotives have powered their way along the 13 1⁄2 miles of track since 1928. Free time at Dungeness where you can enjoy a pint at the Pilot Inn or use the facilities of the station and take in the surrounding views. Afterwards return to Tunbridge Wells for some free time.

Day 3 A visit and private tour of Great Dixter House and Gardens with some free time before departing to Tenterden. Here you will have time for lunch or visit the Col Stephens Railway Museum, later board the train on the Kent and East Sussex Railway for a single journey through the unspoilt Rother Valley to Bodiam.

Day 4 Today you will visit Wakehurst Place where you are free to explore the Millennium Seed Bank, more than 500 acres of diverse landscapes including the bog and walled gardens with rare and important plants.
In the afternoon you will be taken to Sheffield Park station where you can visit the museum before embarking on a single train ride to East Grinstead on the Bluebell Railway, UK’s first preserved standard gauge passenger railway. Whilst travelling through the Sussex countryside you will tuck into a tasty cream tea and admire the views.

Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.

The hotel boasts 84 guest rooms inside a beautiful 18th century Georgian oast house, set in a tranquil corner of Kent and close to Tunbridge Wells. All bedrooms are en-suite with TV, telephone, WiFi, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Restaurant, bar, fitness centre and gardens.

NB: No lift, but ground floor rooms available on request.
