Travelling across the landscapes of North Yorkshire, the three train rides will take you through two National Parks and are the highlights of this tour.
Day 1 Morning departure to Yorkshire and to the hotel for a four night stay.Day 2 All aboard for a wonderful train ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway through miles of beautiful national parkland scenery between Pickering and Grosmont. Then explore Whitby, a picturesque harbour town, with its famous clifftop abbey. The journey back is broken by a stop in Goathland, used as “Aidensfield” in the TV series ‘Heartbeat’.
Day 3 This Morning you will take a ride on the Wensleydale Railway, through unspoilt countryside between Leyburn and Leeming Bar followed by a short visit to the traditional market town of Thirsk, home to the famous vet and author James Herriot. Finally travel to Masham, for a tour and tasting at the Black Sheep Brewery, only established in 1992, but already a brewing legend. Day 4 Today you will board a train for a short single journey from Bolton Abbey to Embsay. Afterwards travel to Skipton for some free time to explore some of the historical treasure the town has to offer. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is your destination for a visit to the beautiful village of Grassington before returning by way of Pateley Bridge to the hotel.Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
