Day 1 Morning departure to Newcastle for a five night stay.
Day 2 Today you will visit Alnwick Castle home to the Duke of Northumberland’s family, which offers history on a grand scale, with sumptuous state rooms filled with one of the country’s finest private art and furniture collections. This was also the film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts. Afterwards explore the Alnwick Gardens with one of the largest collections of European plants in striking geometric beds.
Day 3 Today you follow the coastal route to Seahouses for a 90 minute cruise to the Farne Islands, with its grey seal colony (subject to weather conditions). Afterwards re-join coach and travel to Bamburgh Castle where you will explore the extraordinary grounds and staterooms which covers nine acres of the UK’s best-loved coastline and 150 feet above magnificent Bamburgh beach.
Day 4 Depart for the journey to Bellingham Heritage Centre. A fascinating museum tells the stories of life and traditions in the North Tyne and Rede Valleys. Time permitting, walk up to Hareshaw Linn to see the 30ft waterfall at the end of a wooded gorge. Afterwards travel to Kielder Water and Forest Park, to learn about northern Europe’s largest man-made lake and England’s largest forest at Tower Knowe Visitor Centre. After free time return to the hotel.
Day 5 Free day in Newcastle or join your driver for a trip to Hexham for the morning. Filled with winding streets and Hexham Abbey at the hub, plenty for you to see and do.
Day 6 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journe
